"Using data from Airbnb, the study found that 81 percent of French municipalities have at least one accommodation available for rent on Airbnb. In comparison, only 15.6 percent of municipalities have a hotel. In municipalities with fewer than 500 inhabitants, only five percent have a hotel, but more than two-thirds of them have at least one accommodation listed on Airbnb."
"Airbnb is also one of the most popular online platforms for short-term rentals. The firm AirDNA found that between October 2024 and September 2025, there was an average of 1.31 million active short-term rental listings each month in France. Of those, 71 percent were listed on Airbnb, 12 percent were on Arbitel, and the remaining 17 percent were listed on both platforms."
"Airbnb may have exacerbated strains on the housing market, but did not create them."
