"On or about April 4, 2020, Barbosa picked up the victim at about 4 a.m. a few houses down from her residence, and the two drove around together and smoked marijuana. Though the victim told Barbosa she was 16 years old, he questioned this claim and pointed out that her older sister was 16, according to prosecutors. Barbosa raped the victim while they were in his vehicle, and he then dropped her off close to her home."
"Prosecutors recovered screenshots of conversations depicting the victim's statements that she did not consent to sex with Barbosa and that "there was a physical struggle." They also secured calls that Barbosa placed from jail where he admitted to having sex with the victim, according to the DA's office. Barbosa fled to Florida in October 2024 while the case was pending but was taken into custody a short time later by the U.S. Marshals, prosecutors said."
