Epic is bringing AI Darth Vader's tech to Fortnite creators
Briefly

Epic Games is set to allow Fortnite creators to create AI-powered NPCs that behave similarly to the recently introduced AI Darth Vader. This exciting feature, demonstrated at the State of Unreal show, utilizes the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) to offer creators the ability to assign voices, characteristics, and interactive dialogue to their AI characters. The introduction of NPCs follows a successful demo, and Epic is also testing an AI chatbot to assist creators with programming. Moreover, new franchises like Squid Game and LEGO experiences will soon be available for creators to enhance gameplay further.
In a live demo, Epic staff showcased an AI NPC named 'Mr. Buttons', who engaged players in dialogue to persuade them to press a large red button.
Epic's update allows creators to design AI characters with specific voices and behaviors, enhancing Fortnite's interactive experience through UEFN.
The introduction of AI NPCs follows the success of a Darth Vader character that could communicate using AI-generated voice, approved by James Earl Jones' estate.
Epic is beta testing the Epic Developer Assistant, an AI chatbot to assist UEFN creators in writing Verse programming, enhancing development efficiency.
