Sara Hooker and cofounder Sudip Roy launched Adaption Labs with $50 million in seed funding to develop AI systems that require less compute and lower operating costs. The company aims to build models that are more adaptive to individual tasks through diverse techniques and that can learn continuously without expensive retraining, fine-tuning, or extensive prompt and context engineering. Investors include Emergence Capital Partners, Mozilla Ventures, Fifty Years, Threshold Ventures, Alpha Intelligence Capital, e14 Fund, and Neo. The effort challenges the industry focus on ever-larger LLMs and addresses diminishing returns from scale.
