Google, Microsoft, and xAI will allow the US government to review their new AI models
"Independent, rigorous measurement science is essential to understanding frontier AI and its national security implications. These expanded industry collaborations help us scale our work in the public interest at a critical moment."
Google DeepMind, Microsoft, and Elon Musk's xAI will permit the US government to review new AI models prior to public release. The Commerce Department's Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI) will conduct pre-deployment evaluations and targeted research to assess frontier AI capabilities. CAISI has reviewed 40 models since 2024, including those from OpenAI and Anthropic, which have adjusted their partnerships to align with the AI Action Plan. Future evaluations may involve an executive order to unite tech executives and government officials for oversight.
