Hugging Face has introduced Reachy Mini, a robot designed to assist AI developers in testing applications. This approachable robot, inspired by Wall-E, offers functionalities like head movements and speech for a reasonable price of $250-$300. It complements Hugging Face’s earlier offerings in robotic technologies, including AI models and a 3D-printable robotic arm. The company’s acquisition of Pollen Robotics showcases their commitment to advancing humanoid robots, despite facing industry challenges such as high costs and battery life limitations in existing models.
You may have noticed he said "robots" plural-that's because there's a second one. It's called Reachy Mini, and it looks like a cute, Wall-E-esque statue bust that can turn its head and talk to the user.
Hugging Face has previously released AI models meant for robots, as well as a 3D-printable robotic arm. This year, it announced an acquisition of Pollen Robotics, a company that was working on humanoid robots.
