Shamim M. Momin will take on the role of director and chief curator of the Bronx Museum of the Arts starting in September. She succeeds Klaudio Rodriguez, who left for the Museum of Fine Arts in St Petersburg, Florida. Momin was previously the director of curatorial affairs at the Henry Art Gallery. She co-founded Los Angeles Nomadic Division and has a long relationship with the Whitney Museum. The Bronx Museum is currently undergoing a significant renovation and expansion, necessitating strong leadership.
Momin sees the Bronx Museum as "aligned with the practice and values that I believe most in", providing her an opportunity "to build community and organizational outreach".
Momin is uniquely qualified to expand and enhance the impact of the museum and its mission, according to Joseph Mizzi, the museum's board chair.
