Christie's celebrates the late Syrian artist Marwan with non-selling London show
Briefly

The art market in the Arabian Gulf is experiencing growth, especially with the launch of Art Basel Qatar and ongoing developments in Saudi Arabia. Christie's organized a successful online auction for modern and contemporary Middle Eastern art in Dubai, achieving impressive results for Saudi artists. Experts note a marked increase in the demand for Arab art beyond the region, influencing collections worldwide. Christie's is also showcasing a substantial exhibition of Syrian artist Marwan's work, emphasizing the significance and recognition of Arab artists on an international scale.
Judging by recent auction records that have been set by numerous artists from the Arab world and conversations with curators of major collections across the globe, it seems that demand for Arab art has expanded beyond the region into Western and Eastern collections.
We are very happy; over the last two or three years we've been performing extremely well.
It has been a lot of work to secure them, but I'm pretty confident that we have gathered some of the most important masterpieces by Marwan.
The sale included a section dedicated to Saudi artists, with almost all the works selling over their high estimates.
