Lawh Wa Qalam translates as "the canvas and the pen" and opened in Doha in November. The museum occupies more than 3,000 square metres and documents M.F. Husain's trajectory from politically charged early works in India to his explorations of Arab and Islamic heritage in Qatar. The permanent collection includes over 150 displays and objects, such as paintings, sculptures, films, tapestries, personal items, photographs, never-before-seen artworks and early incomplete sketches that trace his process. The museum is the first institution created solely by Qatar Foundation and complements other cultural institutions while linking South Asian and Arab modern art.
