When the 15th Anniversary Divine Nine Dance Off begins at 7 p.m. on November 14, Errol Louis, of Spectrum News NY1, will be the host and Laurie A. Cumbo, Commissioner of NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, will be honored. But children will be the beneficiaries of the competition."
"I totally believe dance and education go hand in hand. This is an opportunity for us to provide economic equity for local dance companies. The funds we raise are given directly to the dance company to pay for dance scholarships for youth. The winner of this year's competition will win $10,000 and that will allow them to provide 10 children with a year of free dance tuition and training."
The Stars of New York Dance holds the 15th Anniversary Divine Nine Dance Off at The Theater at City Tech in Brooklyn on November 14 at 7 p.m. Errol Louis will host and Laurie A. Cumbo will be honored. Members of each Black Greek-letter sorority and fraternity from the National Pan-Hellenic Council will perform with professional dance partners. The nonprofit directs funds raised to local dance companies to provide scholarships. The winner receives $10,000, which funds a year of free tuition for ten children. The organization has supported more than 400 young people over 14 years with help from over 150 leaders and organizations.
