2B Marte in tears after fan's taunt about late mom
Briefly

During a game against the Chicago White Sox, Ketel Marte was deeply affected by a fan's inappropriate comment regarding his deceased mother. The incident occurred in the seventh inning, leading to Marte demonstrating visible emotional distress. Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo and bench coach Jeff Banister requested the fan's ejection. Lovullo comforted Marte, emphasizing support from his team. Other players, including Geraldo Perdomo, expressed outrage over the incident, stressing the need for MLB to prevent such behavior in the future and calling for stricter penalties against disrespectful fans.
"I could see he was sobbing. It hurt," Lovullo said, according to the Arizona Republic. "(I told him), 'I love you and I'm with you and we're all together and you're not alone. No matter what happens, no matter what was said or what you heard, that guy is an idiot. It shouldn't have an impact on you.'"
An incensed Geraldo Perdomo said he felt "mad" about the incident and emphasized the need for MLB to take action. "That can't happen," the Diamondbacks shortstop said. "We can't continue to do that s--- here in MLB."
The man was ejected, a team spokesperson told the Arizona Republic, at the request of manager Torey Lovullo and bench coach Jeff Banister.
