A jury in Orange County convicted Mary Chavez of special-circumstances murder for conspiring to kill Phia Marie Albanese, who was shot in a car. Deputy District Attorney Nick Thomo described how Chavez suspected Albanese of informing her violent ex-boyfriend about her whereabouts.
