Ramona Maier gave Essen an early lead with a 30-yard strike inside two minutes. Lea Schüller equalised with a header from a Klara Bühl cross and later scored again after a Pernille Harder pass. Harder scored to put Bayern ahead shortly after the equaliser. Linda Dallmann finished the scoring in the 88th minute following a run by Harder. Maria Plattner and Luzie Zähringer made senior and Bundesliga debuts.
