Timothy Brown, a retired U.S. Marine, has embraced wheelchair rugby as part of his rehabilitation and recovery after losing limbs to an IED in Afghanistan. He cherishes the camaraderie within the adaptive sports community and pushes his limits through various sports. Cycling has become a significant part of his life, enabling him to ride thousands of miles annually. Now a Marketing Specialist for Move United, Brown is dedicated to giving others access to the empowering world of adaptive sports and sharing its benefits.
I feel like I really fit in with the wheelchair rugby community. The best thing about it is I can crash into other wheelchairs going really fast.
There kind of comes a point in your rehab where it's time to do more. I wanted to push myself. They had a hand cycle in the corner, and I was like, 'Hey, I want to try that thing.'
I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I could during my life to help give other people the opportunity to experience what adaptive sports can do for them.
I don't remember that day at all. I exist but for the grace of God and the U.S. Navy Corpsmen.
