"Watford is getting its own locally themed Monopoly board game, and the public are being asked to suggest locations for the game spaces and community chest. The new game will see the town's landmarks replacing the likes of Mayfair and Park Lane from the original classic London Monopoly board. The decision to make a local game for Watford followed an open competition that reduced the shortlist to 20 towns across the UK, before the manufacturer settled on Watford."
"They already make local variants for Richmond and for Hampstead & Highgate. For the Watford version, the public is invited to suggest landmarks to feature on the board game's landing spaces, as well as wording for the Chance and Community Chest cards. In all, more than 30 Watford leading landmarks and organisations will feature on the board. Suggestions can be made by email to: [email protected] Nominations will be accepted for consideration until 28th February 2026."
Watford will receive a locally themed Monopoly board that replaces classic London properties with town landmarks. The town was chosen after an open competition that shortlisted 20 UK towns. Winning Moves UK, an official Monopoly maker licensed by Hasbro, will produce Monopoly: Watford Edition and aims to have it on sale by this Christmas. More than 30 Watford landmarks and organisations will appear on the board. Members of the public can suggest landing-space locations and wording for Chance and Community Chest cards by emailing [email protected]; nominations close on 28 February 2026. Game tokens remain the traditional top hat, car, cat and dog.
