Palpatine repeatedly deferred the resurrection promise, exploiting Anakin's vulnerability. When Vader asks for the promised method, Palpatine uses Force lightning to intimidate him, calling Vader's past identity a liability. Palpatine dispatches Vader to the Diso system to locate a possible 'resurrectionist.' Vader accepted the Sith turn despite the unfulfilled promise, trading hope for power and duty.
