Meet the NH online influencer who lost 300 lbs - and isn't done yet
"I had reached a point with my mental health and my weight that I truly believed that I was too far gone to change and that it wasn't possible for me to come back from 600 pounds. I was fighting for my life in the hospital. I was days away from going septic."
"Even as young as elementary school, I was extremely overweight. I made a promise to myself that I was going to take my life back."
"Every task became increasingly difficult. At one point, her car's steering wheel pressed painfully into her stomach, aggravating an existing scar. That scar led to a turning point: Around Christmas 2023, Harrington was hospitalized with an infection from the scar that developed into cellulitis and sepsis."
Caitlin Harrington, a 35-year-old mother of two from Salem, Massachusetts, struggled with severe obesity beginning in elementary school. Starting at 599 pounds in 2019, she documented her weight loss journey on Instagram under the handle "599.to.damnshesfine." Despite initial progress losing 130 pounds, she regained the weight plus an additional 100 pounds. Her mental health deteriorated as she became involved in a feederism community. By late 2023, weighing approximately 600 pounds, Harrington experienced a critical turning point when hospitalization for a life-threatening infection caused by cellulitis and sepsis forced her to confront her situation. A supportive nurse during her hospital stay encouraged her to reconsider her future, inspiring her commitment to reclaim her life.
