Brad Stevens shares that Wyc Grousbeck has still been 'very active' with Celtics amid ownership change
Briefly

Wyc Grousbeck is expected to continue as the Celtics' governor until the 2028 season despite Bill Chisholm's purchase not yet finalized. During team meetings, Grousbeck was active, and Brad Stevens remarked on his significant involvement this offseason. There is skepticism about Grousbeck's power during this transition, similar to situations faced by Mark Cuban and Jeanie Buss in other franchises. The Celtics have cut payroll significantly, trading key players while maintaining that these decisions were not mandates from the incoming ownership group but rather prioritizing basketball assets.
Wyc is obviously still the governor and has been obviously very, very active, said Brad Stevens regarding Grousbeck's involvement with the Celtics this offseason.
When Chisholm's group agreed to buy the Celtics from the Grousbeck family in March, it was announced that Grousbeck would remain on as the team's governor until 2028.
Faced with the possibility of having to pay over $500 million in salaries and luxury tax bills, Boston traded Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to help get under the second luxury tax apron.
Stevens told reporters that cutting salary wasn't a mandate from Chisholm, saying that the new owner wants to make sure that we're prioritizing basketball assets.
