Red Sox' winning streak ends at 10 games after loss to Cubs in 1st game back from All-Star break
Briefly

The Red Sox faced the Cubs, losing 4-1 despite out-hitting them 7-6. Lucas Giolito struggled early, allowing a three-run homer to Seiya Suzuki after two walks. Despite settling down and collecting six strikeouts, he took the loss due to poor first-inning performance. The Red Sox offense had opportunities but stranded eight baserunners, unable to capitalize on their chances. Manager Alex Cora acknowledged the pressure they applied but felt it wasn't enough to secure a win.
It's a bad way to start the series and the second half [of the season]. I've gotta be a tone-setter. I didn't do that. Two walks and a home run, three runs in the first inning puts us on our heels.
I came out of the gate not locked in enough. I was out of sync mechanically the whole game, but I was able to grind through.
To be honest with you, I think we had chances. We put pressure on them, [but] not enough.
