Boston Calling music festival will not occur in 2026, as announced by festival organizers. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu explained that high demand for accommodations and sponsorships from coinciding events, such as the city's 250th anniversary and FIFA activities, would strain resources. This hiatus is intended to ensure the festival returns stronger in 2027, moving from its long-standing Memorial Day weekend scheduling. The city supports the festival's future, highlighting the positive impact of increased events on community engagement and funding.
They had reached out to me to share that because next year will be so busy, between the 250th anniversary celebrations, between FIFA coming, that there will just be a lot of strain on hotel rooms and events and sponsorships.
In my mind, the more events, the better, but I'm not the one who has to worry about finding the sponsorships to fund them.
