Michigan title agents suspended over escrow allegations
Briefly

The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services took disciplinary action against Rand Sre and Tobby Rae Jablonski, alleging incompetence, untrustworthiness, and misuse of insurance funds. Both were accused of misappropriating fiduciary funds and ignoring audit requests. First American Title terminated its appointments with them after compliance failures, while WFG National Title cited mismanagement of $2.6 million. A court-appointed receiver found discrepancies in ledgers, including unexplained negative balances. Observations included unpaid property taxes and unissued insurance policies, further complicating the investigation. DIFS encouraged affected individuals to reach out for assistance.
Sre and Jablonski are accused of intentionally or negligently misappropriating funds they hold in a fiduciary capacity, posing an imminent threat of harm.
By late April, WFG National Title Insurance Co. had cancelled Sre's appointments and alleged he had mismanaged $2.6 million in escrow funds.
In one case, an individual said that property taxes owed for 2023 and 2024 were never paid, raising significant concerns regarding fund mismanagement.
Sre allegedly collected premiums without ever issuing the associated insurance policy, further highlighting the severe financial mismanagement issues.
