The State Of The Motorcoach Industry At The Start Of 2026 - Busline News
"As we ring in the New Year, there are many opportunities for motorcoach operators to be excited. Several major events in 2026 will boost tourism and increase group travel. These expanded opportunities should help overcome some of the cost pressures faced by the industry. Major Travel Events Planned This year brings the FIFA World Cup to North America, along with millions of international travelers, providing many prospects for bus and motorcoach companies to serve."
"Motorcoach operators will be providing transportation for official FIFA World Cup parties, media, sponsors, and of course, the fans, who will congregate in 11 US cities, along with two in Canada and three in Mexico. At this point, it looks like most of the transportation needs will be airport and stadium shuttles, but some operators are hoping to land inter-city moves as fans follow their teams through at least the first three matches in June."
Major 2026 events will boost group travel demand, notably the FIFA World Cup in North America and USA250. The World Cup will attract millions of international travelers and fans from 48 countries, with gatherings in 11 US cities, two in Canada, and three in Mexico; motorcoach operators can serve official parties, media, sponsors, airport and stadium shuttles, and potentially inter-city moves as fans follow teams. USA250 will inspire domestic group travel to historical sites. Insurance costs continue to rise dramatically, with some liability quotes exceeding $50,000 per vehicle. UMA will host an insurance executive panel at the 2026 UMA Motorcoach EXPO in Birmingham, February 11–14.
