SAS analytics moves closer to Snowflake, Databricks, and Fabric
"“It is really us taking SAS compute, pushing it into SingleStore, which is kind of the data platform sitting underneath that. The way that we kind of take the compute, the way we kind of drop it into a database, it's essentially the same kind of approach architecturally when we move into other providers,” Peterson explains."
"“The approach works both ways: bringing data to the SAS platform for modeling and bringing SAS Compute to the customer's data location.”"
"“SpeedyStore is a rebranding of the collaboration with SingleStore, the data platform that can run under the hood of the SAS environment. Peterson emphasizes that it is more than just a name change, because every month, they look at further integrating SAS functions into SingleStore.”"
SAS is expanding analytics integrations across external data platforms including Snowflake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric. Data Accelerator, SpeedyStore, and Intelligent Decisioning are intended to move models and compute closer to where data resides. SAS focuses on delivering capabilities inside the data environments used by Viya platform customers, where Snowflake and Databricks are common choices and Microsoft Fabric is growing. SAS evaluates integration approaches across dominant platforms and uses its long-standing partnership with SingleStore as an example. SAS compute can be pushed into SingleStore, and SAS can also bring data back to the SAS platform for modeling. SpeedyStore rebrands the SingleStore collaboration and continues monthly integration of SAS functions, including improvements to SAS Visual Analytics dashboard components that load slowly.
