Bay Area police captain allegedly lived in station, commuted from Idaho
"San Mateo County sheriff's Capt. Eamonn Allen is facing backlash from local leaders after a fire inspector found he had been using rooms inside the Millbrae police station as sleeping quarters, in violation of county policy, while reportedly commuting from a home he purchased in Idaho. This isn't even the first time a Peninsula community employee has been caught sleeping at the workplace. Two Caltrain employees were charged with felony theft in 2024 after building sleeping quarters in the Burlingame and Millbrae stations."
"'Please stop using rooms for sleeping,' the notice read, according to the San Mateo Daily Journal. 'Use of bedrooms is not allowed until a permit has been issued, construction has been modified, all inspections have passed ... the existing bedrooms do not have emergency escape and rescue windows.' The inspector's report said one of the rooms was locked and marked "in use," while another contained a mattress, desk, and shelf holding what appeared to be a half-gallon of liquor, KGO-TV reported."
San Mateo County sheriff's Capt. Eamonn Allen used rooms inside the Millbrae police station as sleeping quarters while commuting from a home he purchased in Idaho. A Millbrae Community Development Department inspector visited Oct. 21 and posted a notice of correction ordering an end to sleeping in rooms without permits and escape windows. One room was locked and marked 'in use'; another held a mattress, desk, and a shelf with what appeared to be a half-gallon of liquor. The inspector said modifications require permits, construction changes and inspections before sleeping quarters can be allowed. Two Caltrain employees were earlier charged with felony theft for building sleeping quarters and received jail time.
