
"At 10:17 a.m. today (Nov. 3) the city of Los Altos ordered a mandatory evacuation for downtown due to a gas leak. The leak has been reported in Parking Plaza North near 1st Street. An audible leak can be heard, indicating a significant amount of gas escaping, the city said. Santa Clara County Fire Department is working with Los Altos to evacuate everyone. People are asked to avoid the entire downtown Los Altos area between Foothill, Edith and Main until further notice."

The only exemption is for the building at 199 First St., which firefighters are still ventilating, according to a notice from the city.
