"Corpus started crying on the stand after Mazzucco asked her why she continues to come to work despite the removal efforts. Corpus said she has fought tooth and nail to get where she is in her career and that God has made her sheriff for a reason. "I would not compromise my integrity, my oath to office, for anyone or anything," Corpus said."
"The supervisors hired Cordell to investigate a series of HR complaints about Corpus and her former chief of staff, and alleged boyfriend, Victor Aenlle. Cordell concluded Corpus and Aenlle were running the office through intimidation and retaliation. Regardless of whether she testified, no one would believe her because of the Cordell report, Corpus said."
San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus testified on the final day of a 10-day hearing appealing her removal and broke down in tears on the witness stand. Corpus was questioned by attorney Thomas Mazzucco about why she continues to come to work despite efforts to remove her. Corpus denied going on a vacation to Lake Tahoe with former chief of staff Victor Aenlle and said she has fought tooth and nail to reach her position. Corpus said Supervisor Noelia Corzo called to threaten subpoenas to force her resignation. The supervisors hired retired Judge Ladoris Cordell to investigate HR complaints and allowed Corpus to remain in office while she appeals.
