Search and rescue personnel in Marin County deployed about 40 people after friends reported a camper walked away from Olema Ranch Campground shortly before midnight while potentially severely intoxicated. By 3 a.m. K-9 units, e-bike teams and an unmanned drone were searching a heavily wooded area. Deputy Rachelle Wilmot said the response aimed to locate the person quickly. After roughly an hour the camper returned to his site and said he had been passed out in a field about half a mile away. No medical assistance was required. Officials urged campers to carry charged phones, use the buddy system and avoid walking off alone.
