Deputies used several less-lethal tools and projectiles when de-escalation failed. The man exited the car armed with a knife and charged deputies. Two deputies discharged their firearms. The man was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at 10:16 p.m. The San Jose Police Department is investigating.
