Tesla has not yet paid a $750 fine for spilling 916 gallons of a dyed water solution into Matadero Creek eight months ago. Stanford officials asked the city to remove Stanford from Tesla's citation, but the request was denied because Stanford owns the property.
Elisa Vargas stated in an email that it would be beneficial for Tesla to reach out to the tenants to understand the non-payment issues. Tesla is working with the city to map its private sewers and storm drain pipes, as required.
Tesla's Environmental Program Manager reportedly mentioned that the issues that caused the spill have been resolved. The company plugged a storm drain and removed the green dye from the cooling water of its AI supercomputer.
Residents first noticed the spill on October 22, and the city later confirmed it was a water-based solution used to cool Tesla's AI supercomputer, which was not hazardous to health.
