"Canadian basketball is probably the most underappreciated in the world. The talent here is through the roof and getting better by the day. The CEBL offers all of Canada the chance to see that amazing talent on display. I'm excited to be part of this team."
"This is a historic and landmark day for our franchise. Mark's business acumen, championship pedigree and philanthropic endeavours make this relationship one that Brampton Honey Badgers wholeheartedly cherish and are grateful for."
"No one brings more basketball knowledge and winning culture than Mark. All of us at the Honey Badgers are grateful for his involvement and expertise in building a championship organization."
Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks minority owner and Shark Tank investor, has acquired an ownership stake in the Brampton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Cuban believes Canadian basketball talent is underappreciated globally and sees the CEBL as a platform to showcase this talent. He reunites with longtime Mavericks executive Al Whitley, now Badgers CEO, in a relationship spanning 25 years. Cuban's involvement brings his championship pedigree from his active ownership role with the Mavericks, known for acquiring top talent and building strong team chemistry. Leonard Asper, a Canadian businessman, also joins as part-owner, recognizing Cuban's basketball knowledge and winning culture.
