"the lawn will look exactly as it does today, but it'll be a bit bigger."
"We do all of these things while maintaining what people love about the existing amphitheatre, which is the lawns, which is the great views of Toronto's skyline,"
The Ontario Place performance space will be renamed the RBC Amphitheatre under a multi‑year partnership with the Royal Bank of Canada running to 2038. Renovations begin fall 2027, with a spring 2029 reopening as an outdoor stage and an all‑year venue debut by summer 2030. The revamp will extend the lawn eastward to add 2,000 more lawn seats for a total lawn capacity of 9,000 and total warm‑weather capacity of 18,000. The plan adds a lookout platform, elevators for accessible lawn seating, and movable enclosures for winter concerts. The project is part of a larger Ontario Place redevelopment that includes parkland, trails, a beach and a privately run spa and waterpark by Therme Canada that has attracted controversy.
