Jaden Fauske, the Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year, was chosen by the White Sox in the second round of the MLB Draft. He expressed excitement over being selected by his hometown team, recalling childhood dreams of playing for the Sox. The White Sox also selected Billy Carlson in the first round, renowned for being one of 17 shortstops picked. In addition, the Cubs drafted Ethan Conrad, while Brendan Summerhill was picked by the Rays after a successful collegiate season at Arizona.
"It's a dream come true - I mean, you think about that when you're sitting in the stands, you know, when I was 12 years old, like, I want to be wearing these uniforms," Fauske said. "To see that materialize, it means everything."
The White Sox took Carlson with the 10th overall pick. He was one of the record 17 shortstops taken in the first round.
