Tigers take series from White Sox with two-hit shutout in finale
Briefly

Rookie starter Troy Melton led the Detroit Tigers to a two-hit shutout victory against the Chicago White Sox with a 1-0 score. Melton was impressive, allowing no runs and striking out three batters after a double in the fifth inning. The Tigers scored the only run in the sixth through a sacrifice fly by Wenceel Pérez after reaching base in all five innings. The bullpen protected the narrow lead, securing the win and providing the Tigers with their second consecutive series victory.
Melton was perfect through four innings, and when Luis Robert led off the fifth with a double, he bore down and struck out the next three batters.
The only question was whether the Tigers would score before Melton's gem went to waste. They reached base in all five innings against Sox starter Shane Smith.
