Chicago White Sox 2025 MLB Draft Class Breakdown
Briefly

The White Sox concluded the 2025 MLB Draft with 20 selections, including nine pitchers, four outfielders, and multiple infielders and catchers. The draft highlighted a strategic focus on acquiring middle-of-the-field players. Director of amateur scouting Mike Shirley emphasized a shift towards more offense-driven selections compared to previous drafts. While assessing the draft, there was recognition that the college pitching pool was lacking. Resources were utilized to invest more heavily in bats to build the team's offensive future.
"Extremely excited about being disciplined with what we're trying to accomplish; middle of the field players," Shirley said. "More position-player dominated than we've gone in the past, which we're excited for because we are looking for some offense and we're looking to continue to try to build that out."
"I think when we looked at the draft as a whole, we thought it was a little light college pitching-wise. We knew there were going to be limited opportunities on the high school front, just dollars and where they were probably going in terms of the investment in the position player, what they were going to cost."
