Jake Burger, a former White Sox player, made his return to Chicago after being traded to the Miami Marlins and later the Texas Rangers. During his emotionally charged homecoming, he reminisced about his journey in baseball, including setbacks like significant injuries. Burger fondly recalled his memories with the White Sox, particularly a memorable grand slam, and expressed gratitude for the fans' support. In a related note, White Sox manager Will Venable, in his first season, avoided pre-game banter with his former colleagues, emphasizing the importance of teamwork.
"There's a lot of crazy parts of that career and I have a lot of fond memories here," Burger said. "I think back to the walk off grand slam I hit against the Tigers. A couple of really fun baseball games I've gotten to play here."
"It feels good to be back," Burger, 29, said. "It's only a few guys on the other side that I played with, but nonetheless being back here with the fans, they were awesome to us; to myself and my family. It's just really special for us."
