White Sox fans hail news of potential team sale: 'It gives us a little bit more hope'
Briefly

Chicago White Sox fans are optimistic about a new long-term agreement allowing minority investor Justin Ishbia to eventually take a controlling interest in the team. Team chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, who has owned the franchise since 1981, is still the primary decision-maker but will contact Ishbia for a sale from 2029-33. Fans express hope that this potential change in ownership will address long-standing frustrations around financial investment and team performance, especially following a record number of losses last season.
We need something new in this city. We're tired of the same stuff. I think it's nice that we'll have ownership that'll do something new," Jack Frangella, 22, said Thursday outside Rate Field before the Sox' win over the Detroit Tigers.
Honestly, it's not a quick fix, but it's something that we can look forward to as fans," Jack Frangella added. "I think it gives us a little bit more hope as to the future of the team.
Maybe somebody who will actually spend money," longtime Sox fan Joey Shultz, 21, said of what he hopes to see under potential new ownership.
