The Breaks Gets Cracking at Larger Sioux Falls Roastery
"We've had to renovate the space, updating gas, electric, plumbing, cosmetics, etc. but are at the tail end of the project now,"
"We love the interactivity of roasting alongside customers, and the opportunities for conversation, connection and engagement that it provides,"
"The biggest thing that has changed or evolved since 2020 is that we feel more established - dare we say, experienced? - and more set in our identity in the community and neighborhood. We've got a wonderful built-in base of regular customers who have been with us from the gate to help create that, we're so grateful."
The Breaks Coffee Roasting is moving production into a new 2,000-square-foot facility less than a mile from its original roastery cafe. The new space will house a 15-kilo Mill City Roasters machine and devote about two-thirds of the area to production and storage. Renovations to gas, electric, plumbing, and cosmetics are nearing completion. The original 1,000-square-foot cafe will retain its 6-kilo roaster to preserve interactive, customer-facing roasting. The company began in 2015, added wholesale in 2016, opened its cafe five years ago, and plans expanded catering and production while maintaining a loyal customer base.
