Dallas Cowboys comment on arrest of Pro Bowl receiver, former TCU standout
Briefly

Dallas Cowboys' KaVontae Turpin was arrested on July 5 for possession of marijuana and unlawfully carrying a weapon after being pulled over for speeding. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer stated Turpin is aware of the conduct standards expected by the team. Any disciplinary actions will be internal. Turpin signed a three-year extension with the Cowboys after three successful seasons, including earning All-Pro honors. His troubled past includes being dismissed from TCU in 2018 due to domestic violence charges and playing in various leagues before joining the Cowboys.
"I spoke to Turp," Schottenheimer said. "He talked through a lot of things. He understands that there is a standard with how we conduct ourselves. He knows that he needs to be better, but we won't get into all of the specifics."
Turpin is entering his fourth season in the NFL after signing a three-year, $18 million extension this offseason to remain with the only NFL franchise he's known.
After his tenure at TCU ended in 2018 following two domestic violence charges stemming from an incident with his then-partner, Turpin was dismissed from the program and never played college football again.
His performance with the Generals landed him the USFL MVP award in 2022 and a training camp tryout with the Cowboys that summer.
