Tututat Shade Canopy functions as a compact architectural addition to a Reggio-inspired preschool in Tamwe, Yangon. The project was conceived alongside post-earthquake housing work in Mandalay, informing an experimental, context-responsive approach. Bamboo is used deliberately as a crafted, site-specific material rather than as a medium for repetition or prefabrication. The bamboo canopy transforms the existing facade into an inhabitable extension, creating sheltered, interactive space that expands the building’s program. The design emphasizes craftsmanship, local materiality, and a human-scaled intervention that complements Reggio pedagogical values through tactile, spatial, and environmental qualities.
