Harness has updated its platform for managing infrastructure as code by introducing templates for essential variables, configuration settings, and policies, alongside a module registry for template sharing. This advancement aims to help DevOps teams standardize workflows and implement governance through Open Policy Agent (OPA), ultimately reducing infrastructure misconfigurations that can lead to security breaches. Harness IaCM is built on OpenTofu, with future plans to support additional tools like Ansible and Terragrunt. As organizations increasingly adopt GitOps and platform engineering methodologies, the adoption of centralized infrastructure provisioning tools is also rising.
Harness today updated its platform for managing infrastructure as code to add a set of templates for predefining essential variables, configuration settings, and policies, along with a module registry that makes it possible to more easily share those templates.
The overall goal is to reduce the number of misconfigurations of infrastructure, which are often exploited by cybercriminals to compromise IT environments.
