Disneyland is making an unprecedented change to its most famous song
Briefly

The theme song for Disneyland's It's a Small World is receiving its first change ever, with a third verse added by Richard Sherman. This new verse emphasizes unity among people. It will debut on July 17, coinciding with Disneyland's 70th anniversary. The lyrics promote the idea that love and connection outshine divisions among humanity. Disneyland will also showcase a tribute film and a nightly projection dedicated to the Sherman Brothers and the significance of the song.
Even if you've never been on the attraction, you can probably sing the theme song to Disneyland's It's a Small World ride. But as of tomorrow, you'll need to brush up on the lyrics.
Before his death in May 2024, Richard Sherman penned a third verse for the song, adding to the existing two verses. As Richard's son Gregg Sherman told the Disney Parks Blog, his father wrote the verse to "celebrate that there's more that unites us than divides us, and reinforce the message of that song."
