Sony is testing a new Power Saver mode for PlayStation 5, allowing games to run with reduced power consumption. When activated, supported games will experience scaled-back performance, limiting features such as VR mode. This mode aligns with Sony's 2010 Road to Zero environmental initiative, emphasizing power savings at the cost of performance. Additionally, the PS5 system update beta enables players to connect DualSense controllers to up to four devices simultaneously, enhancing cross-device gaming experiences. The beta is limited to select invited participants in various countries.
With Power Saver enabled, supported PS5 games will scale back performance and will allow your PS5 to reduce its power consumption, explained Shuzo Kikuchi.
As for what scaled-back performance actually means, SIE indicates that VR mode will be unavailable and that some gameplay features may be limited.
The new mode will reduce power consumption as a part of Sony's 2010 Road to Zero environmental initiative, but it will sacrifice gaming performance as a trade-off.
Now, players can pair up to four devices simultaneously, with the ability to switch between devices such as PC, Mac, and mobile phones.
