""Troopers attempted to catch up to the vehicle with emergency lights and sirens activated," Maine State Police said in a statement. ""Jake left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working withhim. He had a natural gift for building meaningful relationships; his fun-loving spirit, warm smile, and steady presence lifted those around him," Nadeau wrote in the release."
Jacob Brown, a 34-year-old assistant principal at Scarborough High School, died after his Jeep Wrangler crashed and caught fire while allegedly fleeing a traffic stop. Multiple 911 calls reported a vehicle operating erratically on I-295 southbound around 9:30 p.m. Troopers pulled Brown over, and he suddenly fled at a high rate of speed. State Police attempted to pursue with lights and sirens; the Jeep veered off the right side of the roadway at Mile Marker 13 in Cumberland, crashed into the woods, and became engulfed in flames. Brown was ejected and later pronounced dead. Speed and alcohol are likely factors.
