"It will give us a different player to what we have had up to now but we're expecting a different player at the end of this season compared to what he has done up to now. Unforunately for him and us we haven't seen the best Alex. We will next season. We all know the moment you go on to the pitch it doesn't take three months anymore [to be back]."
Alexander Isak suffered a broken leg while scoring at Tottenham before Christmas and has been sidelined since that injury. He has resumed on-pitch running as part of his rehabilitation and has reached the final stages of that process. The next phases include ball work and reintegration into group training before match readiness. Manager Arne Slot expects Isak to return around the international break — potentially late March or early April — if no setback occurs. Slot expects a different, improved player with a proper pre-season and praised Isak and the medical staff for the rehab progress.
