High surf advisory issued for Bay Area Shorelines for Friday and Saturday  waves of 17 to 22 feet predicted
"Coastal North Bay including Point Reyes National Seashore, San Francisco Peninsula Coast, Northern Monterey Bay and Southern Monterey Bay and Big Sur Coast as well as San Francisco County are under a high surf advisory which was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 6:22 p.m. The advisory is valid from Friday 4 a.m. until Saturday Feb. 7, at 9 p.m."
"Large breaking waves of 17 to 22 feet, with a continuing increased risk of sneaker waves and strong rip currents. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion can be expected. Sneaker waves can sweep across the shoreline without warning, pulling people into the sea from rocks, jetties and beaches. Large breaking waves can overpower swimmers resulting in significant physical injury and increase the risk of drowning."

Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion are likely. Sneaker waves can sweep people into the sea from rocks, jetties, and beaches without warning. Swimmers should remain out of the water and stay off jetties, piers, rocks, and other waterside infrastructure. Never turn your back on the ocean.
