France, Germany, and Britain are preparing to hold new discussions with Iran concerning its nuclear program, signaling urgency amid potential international sanctions reinstatement. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently communicated with his European counterparts, who conveyed a strong message regarding the need for Iran to resume negotiations. If talks do not recommence promptly, a "snapback" mechanism may be triggered to restore sanctions from the 2015 agreement. The 2015 deal imposed restrictions on Iran's nuclear activities but started to deteriorate after the US withdrew in 2018.
Germany, France and the United Kingdom are continuing to work intensively in the E3 format to find a sustainable and verifiable diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear programme.
Iran must never be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon. That is why continued effort in negotiations with Iran is crucial to prevent further escalation.
