The 2025 live-action How to Train Your Dragon is available digitally and will be released on physical formats soon, featuring behind-the-scenes content and deleted scenes. Director Dean DeBlois decided to cut two sequences during editing, which he initially intended to include. One scene showcases Hiccup smuggling Toothless while avoiding detection from Astrid, adding comedic tension. The other deleted scene features Toothless defending his food from small dragons, illustrating character interactions that enhance the narrative, even if ultimately left out of the final cut.
Dean DeBlois emphasized the importance of editing, stating, "Everything's sort of long-winded at first, and then you squeeze and you squeeze, and it eventually starts to paint targets on areas of the movie where you really feel the breaks being hit."
The first deleted scene exhibits Hiccup attempting to smuggle Toothless back into his home while avoiding detection from Astrid, showcasing fun tension between their characters.
