Netflix Finally Confirms KPop Demon Hunters 2
"I feel immense pride as a Korean filmmaker that the audience wants more from this Korean story and our Korean characters. There's so much more to this world we have built, and I'm excited to show you. This is only the beginning."
"These characters are like family to us, their world has become our second home. We're excited to write their next chapter, challenge them, and watch them evolve - and continue pushing the boundaries of how music, animation, and story can come together."
Netflix has officially announced a sequel to K-pop Demon Hunters through an exclusive multiyear writing and directing partnership with co-directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. Both directors will return for the sequel, marking the first of several animation projects they will collaborate on at Netflix. The announcement confirms that main characters Rumi, Zoey, and Mira will return, with expectations that original vocalists Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami will reprise their roles. The directors expressed enthusiasm about expanding the Korean story and characters while pushing creative boundaries in combining music, animation, and storytelling. Development is underway, though the sequel may not release until 2029 or later.
