Colin Farrell arrived intoxicated and hungover on the set of Steven Spielberg's 2002 film Minority Report despite having asked not to work on his birthday. Farrell portrayed a Department of Justice agent auditing the precrime program while Tom Cruise played a Precrime chief. Farrell drank heavily the night before, woke late when a driver arrived at 6:10am, and an assistant director suggested he could not work. Farrell requested beer and cigarettes and went on set but could not deliver the opening line, ultimately completing it after 46 takes. Farrell later entered rehab several years after the incident and again in 2018 as a preventive measure.
