Critics, especially those familiar with Yosemite, expressed discontent over the series' lack of authentic representation of the park. Beth Pratt, a local author, criticized the limited real Yosemite footage, estimating only five minutes were actual park visuals. The majority of filming took place in British Columbia instead. Viewers familiar with the park found little resemblance to its true scenery and essence, despite understanding the fictional nature of the story.
